L’horticulture est considérée comme une composante essentielle de la sécurité et de l’équilibre alimentaire mondial. Le défi global consiste à concilier à la fois une production horticole suffisante tout en assurant la préservation de l’environnement et la limitation des risques pour la santé humaine. Pour relever ce défi, plusieurs verrous doivent être levés, qui constituent autant d’orientations pour la recherche. Nos priorités portent sur la connaissance et la modélisation du fonctionnement agroécologique des systèmes horticoles, la capacité à évaluer leurs performances et la capacité à faire évoluer ces systèmes ou en concevoir de nouveaux.

Notre questionnement scientifique s'articule autour de deux axes prioritaires : le fonctionnement agroécologique et l’évaluation et la conception de systèmes horticoles répondant aux nouveaux enjeux économiques, écologiques et sanitaires.
Principaux produits étudiés : agrumes (citron, mandarine, clémentine, orange, pomélo), mangue, tomate, litchi, choux, girofle, goyave, oignon, concombre, haricot...
